Building resilient regions: the power of entrepreneurship in times of crisis

Michael Wyrwich is Professor and Chair of Entrepreneurship and Regional Development at the University of Groningen. Prior to this, he worked at Friedrich Schiller University in Jena, Germany, where he obtained his diploma and PhD. His research focuses on the impact of regional differences in entrepreneurship on regional development. This involves examining the historical, cultural, and institutional origins of entrepreneurship, as well as developing a comprehensive understanding of development. This covers topics such as economic growth, individual (entrepreneurial) well-being, regional innovation potential, entrepreneurial success, sustainable structural change, and institutional change. He also serves as an editor of Small Business Economics: An Entrepreneurship Journal, and has been the principal investigator of projects dealing with differences in entrepreneurship and innovation in Eastern and Western Europe.
