Computing Democracy: Algorithms in Democratic Renewal
Synopsis
Is there something inherently algorithmic in how democracy functions? And can algorithms strengthen democratic practices by making them more inclusive, responsive, and legitimate? In this lecture, I argue that the answer is yes, and show how methods from mathematics and computer science can play a pivotal role in renewing democracy in our societies.
